MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND (February 13, 2018) – Maryland
International Raceway ™ (MDIR) proudly announces Its
2018 Speed Unlimited ET Series and other additional ET
feature events which includes more dates, more
full-weekend racing and more special event programs.
the expanded points schedule for this season, which
includes nearly $9,000 in the end-of-season points fund
and the Rick's Jewelers "Ring for the Queen" program,
MDIR will play host to an additional twenty-plus ET
racing date opportunities for racers.
The 2018 points schedule will include fifteen points
races for competitors in both Top ET and Mod ET and
sixteen points racers for Hubble Motorsports Jr.
Dragster including five two-day race weekends providing
extra racing for one trip to the track.
The 2018 points ET Series will begin Saturday, March 31
and will run through the season finale on Sunday,
New for 2018, the ET Series will be competing at the
10th Annual Door Wars event with separate points races
both Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15.
Bracket Bash competitors, don't forget about the PDRA
Racing PDRA North South Shootout 2018 event on May 3-5
as another opportunity to compete at Budds Creek in
front of a national audience.
ET Series points races will continue the following
weekend on April 21 as well as additional events
scheduled for May 12 and May 26.
Another new opportunity for ET racers to compete beyond
the points schedule will come into play with the first
of two No Limit Production’s Triple Crown $25K’s, May
17-20. The second Triple Crown $25K event will return
later in the summer, July 19-22.
Hubble Motorsports Jr. Dragster competitors, the
can’t-miss weekend is the Young Guns Showdown on
Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1. The event includes
two points races on Saturday and one on Sunday, totaling
three in just one weekend. Special features include a
$1,000 to win event and 330’ races on Saturday as well
as special age-group class races, best appearing, best
reaction time contests and more on Sunday. New for 2018,
the adults will also be part of the big weekend with
separate ET Series point races for Top ET and Mod ET
competing both days.
Two weeks later, the ET Series points chase returns to
Budds Creek for the 40th Annual Jet Wars event. An
additional points race was added to Sunday giving ET
racers separate points races on July 14 and 15.
August 11-12 marks the return of the Speed Unlimited ET
Series Summer Blowout Weekend which includes $5,000 to
win Top ET, $2,000 to win Mod ET and $500 to win Jr.
Dragster each day as well as a 330’ shootout for Hubble
Motorsports Jr. Dragster, and a "party-at-the-line" for
all competitors on Saturday night.
Next on deck is the Super Chevy event as an extra race
opportunity on August 18-19 for Chevy/GM and Jr.
Yet another new ET feature at MDIR for 2018 is the IHRA
Summit Sportsman Spectacular, August 24-26. This
three-day event is open to Box, No Box and Jr. Dragster,
and was created to produce a fun double-race weekend
with increased purses that are affordable for
grassroots, bracket racing competitors who support their
local tracks each week.

will also be the last day to qualify for bracket finals
as well as the Wild Card race.
The 9th Annual Legends at Budds Creek is back on
September 8 and offers ET racers with 1989 or older
racecars yet another opportunity to compete.
A few weeks later, MDIR will once again play host to the
IHRA Team Finals on September 27-September 30 giving
team MDIR a home-track advantage, as well as allowing
qualified racers the opportunity to race close to home
and in front of family and friends.
Top ET will once again have two $5,000 to win events
during the 33rd Annual Superchargers Showdown on October
5 and 6. New for 2018, the ET Series competitors will
have separate points races on both Saturday, October 6
and Sunday, October 7. Sunday’s race will also serve as
the last day to qualify for the IHRA Summit Super Series
event, as well as the final points race of the season
where champions will be crowed!
Even though the points season will come to a close on
October 7, racing is still open for business. Ford
racers can take advantage of the Ford Fever Classic on
October 19-21 and for the Mopar competitors, it’s the
Mopar Eastern Classic on October 27.
A reminder that MDIR will also host two special $1,500
to win ET Combo events at the Spring and Fall Swap Meets
on March 25 and November 11, giving racers plenty of
chances to race down the legendry Budds Creek track.
Beginning in 2018, both Swap Meet ET Combo races, Super
Chevy, Ford Fever and Mopar events will all be on the
Beyond the exciting and expanded schedule, MDIR has also
announced a pairing rule change for 2018. For Top ET
only, door cars will be called to the lanes first,
followed by dragsters, for the first 3 rounds of
eliminations (not including re-entry). Single-file door
cars will be paired front to back until none or one are
left and any single remaining door car left will run
with dragsters. This will be in effect at all ET races
beginning this season.
Royce Miller, the IRG COO and acting GM at Maryland
