MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND (February 19, 2018) – Maryland
International Raceway ™ (MDIR) 2017 Track Champions were
crowned on Saturday, February 17, 2018 during the Awards
Presentation and Racer’s Party at the Waldorf Jaycee
Community Center in Waldorf, Maryland.
award winners of the evening were handed to MDIR’s
“Employee Recognition of Excellence” recipients; Gregory
Hadsell, a MDIR EMS Coordinator from White Plains,
and Chris Higgins of Hollywood, Maryland, a track Public
Milstead of Mechanicsville, Maryland was presented with
the Speed Unlimited Midnight Madness Grand Champion
trophy and jacket for winning the end-of-season run-off
Darrell Mahoney of Pomfret, Maryland was awarded with
Midnight Madness Motorcycle Grand Champion trophy and
final group to the stage Saturday was the 2017 Speed
Unlimited ET Series track champions.
18-year-old Chad Burch of Mechanicsville, Maryland who
attends Chopticon High School was announced as the
Hubble Motorsports Jr. Dragster champion.
Mattera of Mechanicsville, Maryland was presented with
first championship trophy in Mod ET.
Nelson Jr. of Valley Lee, Maryland claimed his second
consecutive title in Top ET.
addition to the awards ceremony, the racer's party also
included cocktails, formal dinner, 50/50 drawing, door
prizes & trivia contest, live music and dancing. It was
a fun evening for all and a great way to celebrate the
2017 season and turn the page to the 2018 schedule just
around the corner.
2018 Speed Unlimited ET Series gets underway at MDIR
with kick-off event on Saturday, March 31, 2018. MDIR
will also host special ET weekends with the two “Triple
Crown 25’s” events May 17-20 and July 19-22, Speed
Unlimited ET Series Summer Blowout Weekend August 11-12,
the new IHRA Sportsman Spectacular August 25-26, as well
as a 5K Top ET event October 5-6 during the 33nd Annual
Superchargers Showdown and other additional multiple
race weekends and special events.
