Maryland International Raceway Honors 2018 Track Champions at Racer's Banquet

MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND (February 21 , 2018) – Maryland International Raceway ™ (MDIR) held their Awards Presentation and Racer’s Party at the Waldorf Jaycee Community Center in Waldorf, Maryland where the 2018 Track Champions were crowned on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

The first award of the evening was handed to one of MDIR’s staff members. The Employee Recognition of Excellence was given to Gwen Gibbins, who works at the gates and box office.

The first set of champions to be introduced were from the Speed Unlimited Midnight Madness series which runs on select Friday nights. First up was Deshaye Mahoney of Waldorf, Maryland who was awarded the Mobile Lab Racing Motorcycle Grand Champion trophy and jacket. Brenden Quade of Mechanicsville, Maryland was the next to be introduced and awarded the Grand Champion trophy and jacket. Quade was the first to win the championship coming from the Hollyrock Custom Diesel Shootout class. Clinton Smith of Great Mills, Maryland followed being awarded his trophy as the number one driver on the Ray’s Siding No Clock Street List for the 2018 season.

The final three to be introduced were from the Speed Unlimited ET Series. 13-year-old Jordan Denny of Manassas, Virginia was announced as the Hubble Motorsports Junior Dragster Champion and received his first championship trophy. Next, Tony Mattera of Mechanicsville, Maryland was presented his second championship trophy in as many years in Mod ET. Robbie Parlett of Prince Fredrick, Maryland was then called to the stage to accept his first championship trophy in Top ET.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the racer party also included cocktails, dinner, 50/50 drawing, door prizes & trivia contest, live music and dancing. It was a fun evening for all and a great way to celebrate the 2018 season and turn the page to the 2019 schedule.

The 2019 Speed Unlimited ET Series kicks off Saturday, March 30th for a double header weekend. MDIR will also host special ET weekends with the King of the Creek $50k’s event July 18th – July 21st, Speed Unlimited ET Series Summer Blowout Weekend August 17th – 18th, the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular August 23rd – 25th, as well as the 5k Top ET events October 4-5 during the 34th Annual Superchargers Showdown and other multiple race weekends and special events.
