MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND (February 11, 2021) The 2020 racing season started with uncertainty but ended with some of the best car counts at almost every event in the 55-year history of Maryland International Raceway (MDIR). With these larger car counts, comes longer race days and one glaring problem being amplified; the late running of the 1320 Fabrication ET Series. During the 2020-2021 offseason, Royce Miller, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IRGSE and General Manager (GM) of MDIR, the full time staff at the famed facility, and the Steering Committee, have used input from the racers to evaluate the 1320 Fabrication ET Series to see what changes could be made in an effort to not just finish races, but in a timely manner for both the racers and officials.

Below is a summary of the changes that will be implemented.

1320 Fabrication ET Series start times changing from gates opening at 1pm and time trials at 2pm on Saturday, to opening at 9am, time trials at 10am. Times could vary with signature events.

1320 Fabrication ET Series will have one time trial on Saturday, eliminations right afterwards at approximately 1pm. Sunday, only new entries will have one time trial at 9:45am with eliminations starting at 10am.

Open Test and Tune tech cards no longer sold on 1320 Fabrication ET Series days.

12 of the 21 schedule races will have boosted purses. $5k to win in Top, $2k in Mod, $500 in Juniors.
Second Round Re-entry eliminated at all events.

Hubble Motorsports Junior Dragsters (J/D) will not run at the Atomizer Racing Injector Door Wars presented by ATI Performance Products. Hubble Motorsports Junior Dragsters will have a double header race day Saturday May 29th.

Top ET to run for $5k and Mod ET for $2k on Saturday and Sunday at the Atomizer Racing Injector Door Wars presented by ATI Performance Products.

Changes in Mod ET weekly purse. Now $1,500 to win, $500 runner up, $200 semis. $5 increase in entry fee, $10 in re-entry. Purses in all classes will be guaranteed.

Run order will change to J/D, Top, J/D, Mod, in early rounds to finish J/D earlier in the event.

MDIR is continuing to look further into bettering the 1320 Fabrication ET Series program for our local racers and those that travel to race at the famed facility. MDIR is committed to making every effort to have a race winner each night and to finish races in a timely manner. MDIR wants to thank the racers for the turnouts this past year and hope that with these changes these races can be finished, with a race winner, and completed in a timely manner.

Thank you for your continued support!
